A chilly, cloudy morning gave way to sunny skies, and perfect conditions for assembling the Monster Monument! Crews moved the monster's torso into place by noon, attached the face and head of the structure by 2 p.m., and spent the rest of the day putting the monster's arms and hands into place. By the time the sun began to set, the Monster Monument was fully intact in its permanent location at the Speedway.

Under partly sunny skies, construction crews are now hard at work assembling the Monster Monument. By 8 a.m., the lower torso of the monster was already in place on the base of the monument, and by 9 a.m. the design team was working towards connecting the chest to the lower portion. Crews will continue to work throughout the day today with the hopes of having the full structure in place by sunset.

The monster's head, torso and arms were shipped to Dover this morning as six flatbed trucks made their way from ACI Composites' factory in Lancaster, Pa. The wide-load convoy received a Delaware State Police escort from the Delaware border to the Speedway.

More photos and details of the construction of the Monster Monument will be posted on DoverSpeedway.com in the near future.
